Alex Côté
Outdoor cinematographer & director
I was born in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. When I was only a few weeks old, my father took me fishing for the first time. By the age of three, I was casting a line like the adults around me, and at twelve I discovered hunting, a passion that would ultimately shape my career. My friends and I began filming our outdoor adventures, and I quickly became fascinated with capturing wildlife and wilderness experiences through a camera lens. Growing up with direct access to a beautiful lake and vast forests provided the perfect environment to nurture that passion.
I later earned a degree in Civil Engineering and spent five years working as a project manager in the construction industry. That experience taught me how to lead large teams and manage complex projects with discipline, structure, and attention to detail. However, over time, I realized that the industry’s priorities and values were not fully aligned with my own. My passion had always been rooted in the natural world and in sharing meaningful stories about it.
This realization led me to transition to a marketing agency, where I spent nearly two years refining my skills in visual storytelling and content creation before fully committing to a career in filmmaking.
In 2025, one of my photographs received Canadian Geographic’s Aquatic Wildlife Photo of the Year award, helping establish my presence within the wildlife filmmaking and photography community.
Today, my mission is to share the natural world through a unique perspective. I am constantly searching for new angles, both literally and creatively, to tell compelling, untold stories from the wilderness. Whether working with a small expedition team or venturing out alone, I am most inspired when immersed in remote environments, where curiosity and creativity can thrive.
In 2024, I launched WildTales, a YouTube channel dedicated to documentary-style storytelling that highlights extraordinary people, wildlife, and adventures from some of the wildest places on Earth.
